A HISTORY OF SERVICE

 

Tyree was founded in 1988 by Ron and Gloria Tyree as a small Union 76 Distributor serving the greater Lane County, Oregon area. Since then, Tyree has expanded into a full-service petroleum marketer to customers across Oregon, Southwest and Eastern Washington, and Northern Idaho. Tyree offers an extensive list of products and services, including fuels, lubricants, heating oil, card locks, fuel and lubricant equipment, fleet fueling, retail stations, and common carrier trucking to all commercial classes of trades. Tyree is also proud to be recognized as a leader in environmentally-friendly products, including alternative fuels such as E-85 and biodiesel, as well as eco-friendly lubricants and chemicals.

Providing solutions since 1988

Tyree has transformed into a full-service petroleum marketer in the Pacific Northwest, including fuels, lubricants, heating oil, cardlocks, fueling equipment, and transportation services.

    • 1969 | Ron Tyree Got Started in the Industry

      Working at Standard Oil company-operated gas Stations in Mt. Vernon and Ellensburg, Washington while attending college

    • 1974 | Joined Union Company of California
      (Union 76) in Seattle, Washington
    • 1987 | Started Family Business – Tyco Stations

      Operated two 76 gas stations in Oregon City and Beaverton, Oregon

    • 1988 | Started Union 76 Distributorship – Tyree Oil

      Opened office and warehouse in Eugene, Oregon with 2 employees, 1 tank truck and 1 box truck serving the greater Lane County area

    • 1989 | Bulk Oil Tanks Added

      Expanded bulk plant to accomodate bulk lubricants

    • 1990 | Truck & Trailer Delivery Capability added
      First truck and trailer were added to the fleet
    • 1991 | Whitmore Partnership

      Became a Whitmore Specialty Lubricant Distributor for Washington and Oregon

    • 1992 | Pacific Pride Cardlock Franchisee
      Tyree opened its first Pacific Pride station in Veneta, Oregon
    • 1994 | Acquired Taucher and Hutchings in Roseburg

      Expanded Union 76 Territory, 2 bulk plants, and 2 additional cardlock locations in Roseburg and Riddle, Oregon

    • 1995 | Negotiated Common Carrier Trucking Contract with Union 76
      Servicing all 76 stations to Southern Oregon – Established service capabilities available 24/7
    • 1996 | Acquired Cumberland Distributing in Coos Bay & Reedsport
      Expanded Union 76 territory North to Florence, South to Coquille. Gained 2 more bulk plants, 1 cardlock.
    • 2001 | Acquired Glausi Oil
      Expanded office and warehouse space across the street to West 1st Avenue, became a Chevron lubricant distributor, and gained CFN cardlock franchise
    • 2001 | Relocated Coos Bay Branch
      Coos Bay branch moved to North Bend Terminal giving marine terminal access and large fuel tanks that could hold up to 3 million gallons
    • 2002 | John Deere Distributor
      Tyree was selected as the bulk oil distributor for all of John Deere in Washington and Oregon
    • 2003 | Locomotive Fuel Contract
      Tyree was awarded the Union Pacific contract to fuel locomotives
    • 2005 | Investor in Sequential Biodiesel

      Established partnership to build & operate the largest biodiesel plant in Oregon in Salem, Oregon

    • 2005 | Acquired Harrington Petroleum
      Secured our largest competitor in Douglas County, Oregon, gained warehouse space and bulk tank farm, additional CFN station locations, and expanded our territory from Salem to Northern California
    • 2006 | Purchased 76 Station in South Eugene

      Reactivated Tyco stations with acquisition of the 76 station on the corner of 29th and Willamette in Eugene, Oregon

    • 2006 | Land Purchase for Future Growth

      Acquired the Triangle Veneer mill and property on the corner of Highway 99 and Irving Road in Eugene, Oregon and dismantled the mill

    • 2007 | Rail Spur Development

      Developed rail terminal on new property and leased the operation to Teevin Brothers to operate as a transload facility

    • 2009 | Valvoline Partnership

      Partnered with Valvoline to become a lubricant distributor

    • 2009 | Acquired Automatic Heat

      Expanded heating oil business and added fleet fueling operations

      2011 | Ethanol Off-loading Rail Terminal

      Expanded the capabilities of our rail spur in Eugene to include high-speed pumping system and a containment system to accommodate rail cars of ethanol

    • 2012 | Gas Station and Convenience Store Development

      Opened a new Chevron Station and Pacific Roads Convenience Store along with a Pacific Pride cardlock on Irving Road property

    • 2013 | Acquired Star Oilco in Portland

      Entry into the Portland, Oregon market and established Petro Canada lubricant distributorship and expanded Valvoline business

    • 2013 | Acquired portion of Tarr, Inc in Portland

      Gained office space, warehouse, and bulk tank storage in Portland, Oregon, Expanded Chevron lubricant volume, gained an additional CFN cardlock

    • 2016 | Acquired Christenson Oil
      Brought o our Durex private label brand and a large warehouse and major distribution terminal. Gained blending expertise, new lines of specialty products and fuel opportunities for customers. Expanded our service area into Southwest Washington to Eastern Oregon
    • 2018 | Relocated Eugene Lube and Distribution Center
      Opened a large central warehouse at 4th and Garfield in Eugene, Oregon, all our packaged goods could be under one roof and included two rail siding
    • 2019 | Acquired Colvin Oil
      Created Southern Oregon Branch, three bulk storage plants, increased Chevron lubricant volume, and additional fuel customers in Medford, Grants Pass, and Brookings, Oregon
    • 2020 | Acquired Moreland Oil
      Added a branch in McMinnville, Oregon, expanded service offerings by creating our reliability solutions division, and added a Pacific Pride cardlock
    • 2021 | New Headquarters, Warehouse, and Tank Farm
      The new facility built on the Highway 99 and Irving property next to the Chevron station, Pacific Roads store, and Pacific Pride cardlock, has 33,000 square feet of warehouse space, 28,000 of office space, 33 storage tanks for a total of 783,000 gallons and the opportunity to increase to 40 total tanks if needed
    • 2026 | Expanded into Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho
      Strengthened our regional presence by entering new markets, nearly doubling our territory and extending service capabilities and support to customers across Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho
